This was announced by executive director FINCYT, Alejandro afus, who said the project, entitled "Investigation of treatment systems for removal of arsenic, boron and iron in the bodies of water for agricultural and agribusiness," says with the collaboration of the Center for Technological Innovation (Cite), Tacna agribusiness and the University of Tarapaca in Arica.
“Partiendo de concentraciones de 450 to 550 parts per billion (ppb) of arsenic, which has the river Locumba in Tacna, in testing we have reduced to levels below 150 ppb, which provide water suitable for irrigation, according to the technical standard Peru, "he explained.
With this system, he added, there have been volumes of treatment of 20 m3 per day. In the best case, but with smaller volumes, it has been below 30 ppb.
SYSTEM USING ELECTROCHEMICAL
explained that these prototypes developed using flocculating, which are tanks with storage capacity of 600 liters of contaminated water and through a filter system reduces pollution levels.
The process employs a photochemical system that uses solar radiation (with glass or plastic tubes), for a few hours to get water for human consumption.
The FINCYT is under the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) and is funded by the Government of Peru and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
also administers the grant fund Innovate Peru - FIDECOM the Ministry of Production.
supports projects that help improve the country's competitiveness, strengthening research capabilities and technological innovation.
